gap year beijing

CET Academic Programs Clara Grillo Gap at CET Beijing, 2019 Why did you choose to participate in a gap program? I chose to participate in a gap program not only to improve my Chinese language ability but also to deepen my understanding of another country’s culture and life. I knew an intensive and immersive language program would give me a structured way to learn about another country, make meaningful friendships, and also experience things I had never had the opportunity to experience before. How did you decide which gap program was right for you? I decided on CET Beijing because ...

languagebird student testimonial

Hannah Gothelf Why did you choose to participate in a summer program? I chose LanguageBird because I was very interested in independent learning, but I wanted to build a strong connection with my instructor. I value relationships with my community, and LanguageBird has allowed me to bond with my instructor and other students as well. In addition to being one-on-one learning, LanguageBird is accredited, so I knew it was a good choice academically too. How did you decide which program was right for you? NYU Pre-College Summer Program

Why did you choose to participate in a summer program? I normally volunteer at a YMCA camp near where I live but wanted to try something new that would better prepare me for college. I’d never been far from home for long, and it was important for me to find out how to be independent and grow as a person without having an adult or a parental figure always watching over. How did you decide which program was right for you? Location was the biggest factor. All of the options I looked at for school were in major coastal cities, ...

Zach Brody Class of 2023 Staples High School Why did you choose to participate in a summer program? I was home-bound during the “Covid Summer of 2020” and decided to make good use of my time with a positive but fun learning experience. I choose to participate in this program because it provided a broad introduction into business, something I had always had an interest in. Also, even though this program was an online offering, it offered me the opportunity to interact with the instructor as well as the other students in the class. How did you decide which program ...

gap year program

Why did you choose to participate in a gap program? I chose to participate in a Raleigh International Expedition for several reasons. I wanted to be part of a program that would help me to step outside of my comfort zone, develop connections with people, allow myself to see life from a different perspective, and to benefit others’ lives. I was eager to travel and I was enthusiastic about meeting new people! I have grown up in a small town in the United States, with parents who have a very international outlook. At heart I think I’m quite adventurous and ...

Carnegie Mellon Pre-College Program

Jordan Brooks Brentsville District High School- Class of 2021 National High School Game Academy at Carnegie Mellon University- Summer 2020 A large majority of the high schools in my district are STEM-based. As the smallest high school in the county, I attend Brentsville District High School. Although my participation in the Cambridge program allows me to take advanced math and science classes, my school is agriculturally focused and does not offer any computer science-based programs, clubs, or classes for students to join. With the fact that courses relating to computer science and video game design are limited in my area, ...
